Director James Cameron is being sued for $50 million by Roger Dean, a British artist. Dean claims that Cameron copied his ideas for the 2009 film Avatar, specifically his paintings of floating islands and archways in the sky.
Dean also said that he took a similar idea to the Cannes Film Festival in 2005; Cameron has said publicly that he first thought of the idea for Avatar in 1995.
Avatar was nominated for nine Oscars in 2010 and won three of them. It is the highest grossing film of all time.
